Since 2002 I have been active in disciplinary service through reviewing (e.g., PLoS journals, SIAM journals, Frontiers journals, IEEE TCBB, IROS, ICRA), and program committee work (e.g. ACM BCB). I have also served extensively in grant reviewing for NSF and NIH. Perhaps my most unique service contribution has been to help re-establish the Computer Science Department at Tulane after it was closed in 2007. I joined the department in 2011 to teach the first courses and was responsible for the design of our unique coordinate major undergraduate program. The undergraduate program has grown to several hundred students, with about 50 graduates per year. From 2019-2025 I served as the Graduate Studies Director for the department. In this capacity I helped to create our MS programs and significantly grow our PhD program. At Tulane, I have served on the IP Policy Committee, SSE Grievance Committee, Promotion and Tenure Committee and Professor of Practice Promotion Advisory Committee. I am currently SSE representative to the Faculty Handbook Committee. I received the Tulane School of Science and Engineering Service Award in 2023 for my contributions.
